Joshua Taarud
Josh is a passionate landscape-astrophotographer with a passion for all things beautiful, especially those that occur naturally or as a reclamation of natural process. The astrophotography niche has consumed his personal interests since 2020 when he took his first milky-way photo in the desert two hours from home.
Corny third-person narration aside, I've put an immense amount of time into understanding my love for astrophotography. I thrive in recovering less-than-ideal night sky conditions, and having such knowledge allows me to be that extra bit more experimental and free. I love some bortle 1 sky, but there's nighttime beauty worth showcasing in a whole host of bortle ratings. Editing brighter skies is a bit like revealing dinosaur bones preserved in a thick layer of stone. It takes more work than finding stuff on the surface, but the results can offer a similar or sometimes greater reward. Nowadays, my frontiers for further understanding are mid-latitude aurora forecast communication and photography, airglow observation, timelapse, astro-panorama, weather, and technique optimization.
